Interrogative Sentences (ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਨ ਵਾਚਕ ਵਾਕ)
- ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਨ ਵਾਚਕ ਵਾਕ ਦੇ Reporting verb said, say ,tell ਦੇ ਸਥਾਨ Indirect ਵਿਚ asked ,enquired ਆਦਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ।
- ਜੇਕਰ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਨ ਦੇ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਵਿਚ Auxiliary verb ਜਿਵੇ Do,does, is, am, are, has, have, did, was, were, had, will, shall, can, may ਆਦਿ ਹੋਣ ਤਾਂ Reported speech ਦੇ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਵਿਚ ਅਰਥਾਤ that ਦੀ ਜਗ੍ਹਾ ਤੇ if ਜਾਂ whether ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਯੋਗ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
- ਜੇਕਰ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਨ interrogative pronoun ਜਾਂ adverb ਜਿਵੇਂ where, how ,when , ਆਦਿ ਨਾਲ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਹੋਵੇ ਤਾਂ reported speech ਦੇ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਵਿਚ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੂਜੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੂਜੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਨਹੀਂ।
- Indirect speech ਵਿਚ ਵਾਕ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਨ ਵਾਚਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ। Auxiliary verb, subject ਦੇ ਬਾਅਦ ਲਗਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਨ ਵਾਚਕ ਚਿਨ੍ਹ (?) ਦੀ ਜਗ੍ਹਾ ਪੂਰਨ ਵਿਰਾਮ (.) ਲਗਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਵਿਚ that ਦਾ ਬਿਲਕੁਲ ਪ੍ਰਯੋਗ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ।
- ਬਾਕੀ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਤਬਦੀਲੀਆਂ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਵਾਂਗ ਹੀ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
For example:-

ਉਸ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, ” ਕੀ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸਕੂਲ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਹੋ?” |
He asked me if I was going to school.
ਉਸਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ ਕੀ ਮੈਂ ਸਕੂਲ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ। |
| Radha said to me, “Will you sing a song?”
ਰਾਧਾ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਕੀ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਉਂਦੇ ਹੋ?” |
Radha asked me weather i would sing a song.
ਰਾਧਾ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ ਕੀ ਮੈਂ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਵਾਂਗੀ। |
| Mamta said to radha, “How old are you?”
ਮਮਤਾ ਨੇ ਰਾਧਾ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਤੁਹਾਡੀ ਉਮਰ ਕਿੰਨੀ ਹੈ?” |
Mamta enquired of radha how old she was.
ਮਮਤਾ ਨੇ ਰਾਧਾ ਤੋਂ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ ਕੀ ਉਸਦੀ ਉਮਰ ਕਿੰਨੀ ਹੈ। |
| She said to me, “Do you listen a song?”
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਕੀ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਗੀਤ ਸੁਣਦੇ ਹੋ?” |
She asked me if i listened a song.
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ ਕੀ ਮੈਂ ਗੀਤ ਸੁਣਿਆ। |
