Imperative Sentences
ਨਸੀਹਤ ਜਾਂ ਹੁਕਮ ਵਾਲੇ ਵਾਕ
- ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਾਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ Direct ਤੋਂ indirect ਬਣਾਉਣ ਸਮੇਂ Reporting verb ਵਿਚ said ਦੀ ਜਗ੍ਹਾ Reported speech ਦੇ ਵਾਕ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਹੁਕਮ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੋਵੇ , ਤਾਂ indirect ਵਿਚ order , ਜੇਕਰ ਮੁਆਫੀ ਮੰਗੀ ਗਈ ਹੋਵੇ , ਤਾਂ begged ਅਤੇ ਨਸੀਅਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੋਵੇ , ਤਾਂ advise ਲਿਖਿਆ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ। ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ Command , Request , Forbid ਆਦਿ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਯੋਗ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
- Inverted commas ਦੀ ਜਗ੍ਹਾ ਤੇ to ਲਗਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
- ਨਾਂਹ ਵਾਚਕ ਵਾਕਾਂ ਵਿਚ not to ਪ੍ਰਯੋਗ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। Forbid ਵਾਲੇ ਵਾਕਾਂ ਵਿਚ not ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਯੋਗ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ /ਕਿਉਂਕਿ Forbid ਦਾ ਆਪਣਾ ਅਰਥ “ਮਨਾਹੀ” ਹੈ।

The father ordered his son to close the door. ਪਿਤਾ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਹੁਕਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਕਿ ਦਰਵਾਜ਼ਾ ਬੰਦ ਕਰੋ। |
| The teacher said to the students, “Never tell a lie.“
ਅਧਿਆਪਕ ਨੇ ਲੜਕਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਕਦੀ ਝੂਠ ਨਾ ਬੋਲੋ।“ |
The teacher advised the students to never tell a lie.
ਅਧਿਆਪਕ ਨੇ ਲੜਕਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਲਾਹ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਕਿ ਕਦੀ ਝੂਠ ਨਾ ਬੋਲੋ। |
Exclamatory Sentences
ਜਿਸ ਵਾਕ ਦੇ reported speech ਵਿਚ ਕੋਈ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ, ਗ਼ਮੀ, ਪ੍ਰਾਰਥਨਾ, ਇੱਛਾ, ਜਾਂ ਹੈਰਾਨੀ ਦਾ ਭਾਵ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਹੋਵੇ, ਉਸਨੂੰ exclamatory sentences ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
- Reported Speech ਵਿਚ ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਭਾਵ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੋਵੇ , ਓਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੀ ਸ਼ਬਦ Reporting verb ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਅਰਥਾਤ Exclaimed with joy , Exclaimed with delight, Exclaimed with sorrow ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਯੋਗ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
- ਹੈਰਾਨੀ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਜਿਵੇ – Alas , Hurrah ,ha , ho , Bravo , hush , ਆਦਿ ਹਨ। Exclaimed with delight or regret or sorrow ਜਾਂ cried out with joy or sorrow.
- Reporting verb ਨੂੰ reported speech ਨਾਲ that ਲਗਾ ਕੇ ਵਾਕ ਨੂੰ assertive sentence ਵਿਚ ਬਦਲ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
- ਵਾਕ ਵਿਚ Noun ਦੇ ਪਹਿਲਾ ‘Great ‘ ਅਤੇ Adjective ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾ very ਲਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
- ਵਾਕ ਦੇ ਅੰਤ ਵਿਚ sign of exclamation (!) ਨੂੰ ਹਟਾ ਕੇ full stop (.) ਲਗਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਉਸ ਨੇ ਦੁਖੀ ਹੋ ਕਿ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਬਰਬਾਦ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ। |
| Sham said to him, “Bravo! you have done well.“
ਸ਼ਾਮ ਨੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਸ਼ਾਬਾਸ਼ ! ਤੁਸੀਂ ਚੰਗਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ।“ |
Sham applauded him saying that he had done well.
ਸ਼ਾਮ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਾਬਾਸ਼ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਉਸਨੇ ਚੰਗਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ। |
| Mohit said to me, “How clever you are!“
ਮੋਹਿਤ ਨੇ ਮੇਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ ,”ਤੁਸੀਂ ਕਿੰਨੇ ਚਲਾਕ ਹੋ।“ |
Mohit exclaimed me that how clever I was.
ਮੋਹਿਤ ਨੇ ਹੈਰਾਨ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਕਿੰਨਾ ਚਲਾਕ ਸੀ। |
| The child said, “Hurrah! Papa has arrived.“
ਬੱਚੇ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, ” ਆਹਾ ! ਪਿਤਾ ਜੀ ਆ ਗਏ।“ |
The child exclaimed with joy that his father had arrived.
ਬੱਚੇ ਨੇ ਖੁਸ਼ ਹੋ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਉਸਦੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਜੀ ਆ ਗਏ। |
