let’s start:-Past Continuous Tense (ਪਾਸਟ ਕੰਟੀਨਿਊਜ਼ ਟੈਂਸ)
ਪਹਿਚਾਣ :- ਵਾਕ ਦੇ ਅੰਤ ਵਿਚ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ, ਰਹੀ ਸੀ, ਰਹੇ ਸਨ, ਰਹੀਆਂ ਸਨ, ਆਦਿ ਆਉਦਾ ਹੋਵੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ Past Continuous Tense ਕਿਹਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਵਿਚ Helping verb was/were ਅਤੇ ਵਰਬ ਦੀ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਕਿਰਿਆ ਨਾਲ ing (1st form of Verb + ing) ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ। I/ he/ she/ it/ any name/ singular ਦੇ ਨਾਲ was ਅਤੇ We/ You/ They/ Plural ਦੇ ਨਾਲ were ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
Negative :- ਨਾਂਹ ਵਾਚਕ ਵਾਕ ਬਨਾਉਣ ਦੇ ਲਈ helping verb was/were ਤੋਂ ਬਾਦ not ਲਗਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Interrogative: – ਵਾਕ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਨ ਵਾਚਕ ਬਨਾਉਣ ਲਈ helping verb was/were ਨੂੰ ਵਾਕ ਦੇ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਵਿੱਚ (ਕਰਤਾ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ) ਲਗਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਅੰਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਨ ਚਿੰਨ੍ਹ (?) ਲਗਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Interrogative negative:- ਜੇਕਰ ਵਾਕ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਨ ਵਾਚਕ ਤੇ ਨਾਂਹ ਵਾਚਕ ਬਣਾਉਣਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ helping verb was/were ਨੂੰ ਵਾਕ ਦੇ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਵਿੱਚ (ਕਰਤਾ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ) ਅਤੇ not ਕਰਤਾ (Subject) ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਲਗਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਅੰਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਨ ਚਿੰਨ੍ਹ (?) ਲਗਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Rules in English:-
| 1) | Simple | Sub + was/were + v1 + ing + obj. |
| 2) | Negative | Sub + was/were + not + v1 + ing + obj. |
| 3) | Interrogative | Was/were + sub + v1 + ing + obj? |
| 4) | Interrogative Negative | Was/were + sub + not + v1 + ing + obj? |

| 3) | ਕੀ ਗੀਤਾ ਚਾਹ ਪੀ ਰਹੀ ਸੀ? | Was Geeta taking a tea? |
| 4) | ਕੀ ਗੀਤਾ ਚਾਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੀ ਰਹੀ ਸੀ? | Was Geeta not taking a tea? |
